Dr. Renuka Thakore is a global leader and advocate for sustainable development, renowned for her multidisciplinary approach to addressing global challenges through innovation, research, and partnerships. She is the Founder of Global Sustainable Futures: Progress through Partnerships (GSFN), a UK-based network that fosters global collaboration to tackle pressing sustainability issues, with a focus on creating climate-resilient futures and leaving no one behind. Under her leadership, GSFN has grown to include over 7,000 coordinators from 175 countries, empowering local communities and providing opportunities for researchers, early-career professionals, and policymakers to engage in meaningful dialogues and actions on climate change and sustainability.
Renuka’s work is driven by a passion for humanity and a commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She leads various high-level initiatives, including the GSFN Green Awards, which recognize excellence in sustainable practices, and the Global South Summits, which foster capacity building and collaboration across diverse sectors and regions.
Dr. Thakore’s pioneering contributions to sustainability have earned her numerous accolades, including the “Development Leadership: Governor Enrique Tomás Cresto Award 2022” from the Senate of Argentina and the “Global SDG’s Women Ambassador Award 2022”. In 2024, she will be honored with the Humanitarian Award Global (HAG), further recognizing her tireless efforts to create a better world through volunteer-driven initiatives.
With a PhD in Systems Thinking and a strong academic background, Renuka’s research focuses on energy efficiency, stakeholder engagement models, and sustainable innovation. Her ability to connect academic study with practical solutions has driven impactful energy, waste management, sustainable infrastructure, and climate adaptation projects, especially in the Global South. She has been an active voice at COP28, SB60, and various UN forums, presenting the voices of vulnerable communities and advocating for inclusive, equitable solutions.
As a thought leader and advocate of SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), Dr. Thakore is a tireless champion of progress through partnerships. She believes in the power of collaboration across sectors, disciplines, and regions to create long-lasting, equitable solutions to the world’s most pressing sustainability challenges.
