SGHHRI condemns Borno, Kaduna abductions, charges government on swift rescue mission

A Non-Governmental Organisation, Sunshine Gender Humanitarian and Human Rights Initiative, has charged the federal government of Nigeria to swiftly secure the rescue of abducted citizens in Borno and Kaduna States.

In a press release signed by its Founder/CEO, Amb. Abdulgafar Shola Jimoh, the NGO condemned the abduction that took place recently in both states of the country, where over 400 persons have been reported to be victims.

“We are aware of the recent abduction of Internally Displaced Persons in the Gambarou-Ngala area of Borno State and pupils and teachers of LEA Primary School at Kuriga, Kaduna State. We totally condemn this criminal action and charge the federal government of Nigeria in collaboration with the respective state governments to swiftly secure the rescue of the victims.

“It is unfortunate that most of the victims are vulnerable people. This is a threat to humanity, which the government must rise up to. We are deeply concerned about the deteriorating security in Nigeria. We hope that the government will deploy a more effective strategy in ensuring peace, security and stability in the country.”

Amb. Abdulgafar said the government has a responsibility to secure the lives and properties of every Nigerian, adding all efforts must be made to reunite abducted persons with their families and ensure a safer society for all.

“At the Sunshine Gender Humanitarian and Human Rights Initiative, we are committed to promoting the safety of people and advancing humanitarian causes. Therefore, we are deeply concerned where the safety of people can no longer be guaranteed,” the Founder/CEO stated.
